Rapid COVID 19 and Vitamin D test

Please note that this test is only available at our Bexleyheath Clinic. The rapid Covid-19 Nucleic Acid Amplification Technology (NAAT) test detecting viral RNA provides an indication of active Covid-19 infection using a nasal swab. The vitamin D test requires a venous blood sample and provides a measure of levels of the vitamin in the blood. Vitamin D has association with protection against infection and acts as a regulator of calcium and phosphate within the body. The rapid COVID PCR  test provides an indication of active infection and the Vitamin D test provides an indication of the levels of the vitamin in the blood. Please note both a nasal swab and blood sample is required for this panel of tests.

What is a Rapid COVID-19 and Vitamin D test?

Our dual purpose test offers the ability to identify if an infection of COVID-19 is present, along with measuring your current vitamin D levels. Providing a comprehensive look into your body’s ability to fight off SARS-CoV-2, the virus that causes COVID, and other seasonal colds.

Why is a vitamin D test included?

Vitamin D is incredibly important for your body as it aids in protecting against infection, whether it is COVID-19 or other seasonal colds, it acts as a regulator of calcium and phosphate within the body, keeping bones, teeth, and muscles healthy. It is particularly crucial during the autumn and winter months to stay updated on the vitamin D levels in your body, to aid against contracting COVID-19 easily.

Who would this test benefit?

This test will benefit anyone who suspects that they have COVID-19 or are potentially deficient in vitamin D, it may help to identify if an increase in vitamin D is needed to help protect against future reinfection.

How long will this test take?

To provide you with an accurate diagnosis, we collect both a nasal swab and a small blood sample, all results are usually returned within 24 hours.
