What is included in the COVID-19 Infection and Immunity test?

Our dual screening COVID-19 infection and immunity test is designed to indicate currently active or past COVID infection. This is achieved through an antibody test along with a rapid PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test.

How does the COVID-19 Infection and Immunity test work?

This test checks for both a current COVID-19 infection, and antibodies indicating past infection.

  • The PCR test is the most reliable and accurate type of COVID-19 test available, as it is conducted on a molecular level, the genetic material of SARS-CoV-2 can be detected in the smallest fragments of RNA in your sample, if present.
  • The immunity test works through taking a blood specimen which looks for the presence of specific COVID-19 antibodies that your body produces in response to infection, however, it can also determine current immunity by looking at IgG (Immunoglobulin) levels indicating your body’s response to the vaccine.

Does a positive result mean that I am immune to COVID-19?

Receiving a positive result does not mean that you are immune to COVID-19, as reinfection can occur. It may indicate that your body could potentially produce antibodies to help protect against the virus in future cases of infection.

How is the test conducted?

With the rapid PCR test, a simple nasal swab sample can quickly screen for traces of active COVID-19. Meanwhile, immunity is assessed with an easy blood draw from a finger prick to detect any antibody presence that may have formed in defense of coronavirus exposure.

What does IgG mean?

IgG means immunoglobulin, this is the most common type of antibody produced by your body, and is used to determine if a person has an active infection or is protected from it.

Why take the Covid-19 Infection and Immunity screening?

The purpose of this test is twofold, it is first a rapid PCR test to check for current infection, and if no active infection can be found, it allows you to discover if antibodies have been produced in the past in response to COVID-19.
